Enjoy our clay stucco, a natural and decorative wall coating made from raw clay. Available in powder form, it has a 100 percent natural composition and high breathability, making it an ideal option for interior use.

What is clay stucco?

Clay stucco is a decorative stucco for interior use, made from micronized raw clay, marble powder, and natural additives. It is 100 percent natural, ecological, and non-toxic. It contains no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and is available in a wide range of colors, with its original tone being ivory white.

It is an extra-fine stucco (60 microns) with a smooth, mirror-like touch. Visually, it is indistinguishable from natural Venetian stucco.

It differs from lime stuccos in its ease of application and minimal maintenance requirements. Another key feature of this product is that it does not require a final fixer to improve hardness and preserves the great reversibility found in all Naturclay clay-based products. Optionally, Naturclay Wax can be applied to achieve a satin finish and provide greater protection to the surface.

Applications of mineral clay stucco

This decorative stucco in natural white is primarily used in interior design, as it offers a natural, warm, and elegant finish. Ideal for walls and ceilings, it is a healthy alternative suitable for both private homes and commercial spaces.

Among its main applications:

  • Wall coating for bedrooms, living rooms, or bathrooms without excessive humidity, although it is a transpirable stucco.
  • Bioconstruction and restoration projects. As an ecological material, it is increasingly used in the sustainable construction sector, where it helps create healthy spaces.

How to apply clay stucco

To achieve a perfect finish when using raw clay stucco, the substrate must be properly prepared beforehand. Designed especially to achieve smooth and refined finishes on interior walls, the surfaces must be completely dry, clean, and free of loose particles, dust, and mold.

Old renders, smoothings, or stuccos must also be cleaned and leveled with products such as Aciraso Plus, ensuring they are well adhered to the wall structure.

Any salt efflorescence present must be removed before application. Once this is done, the powdered product must be prepared by mixing it with clean water at a ratio of 0.35 L of water per 1 kg of material.

Its natural color is ivory white, although it is available in pigmented versions or can be tinted on-site, where it is important to maintain accurate dosages to achieve the desired tone. In some cases, more water may be required for better workability.

As for the application itself, the clay stucco must always be applied to breathable and porous surfaces, in a minimum of two coats of 0.5 mm each, applied manually using a trowel.

It is important to avoid applying the product in strong wind or when there is a risk of frost in the next 48 hours. The material must also be protected from rain or infiltration during application and throughout its lifespan.

To allow the stucco layers to dry completely, a period of around 24 hours is recommended, although this may vary depending on environmental conditions at the work site.

Finally, it is important to mention the correct technique to achieve a good finish with stucco. First, apply a base layer of clay Marmorino. While this layer is drying, the first coat of clay stucco should be applied.

Once dry, proceed with the second coat, smoothing the surface, and allow the material to dry completely. As a final step, water can be applied to the surface to polish imperfections, and a wax finish may be added if desired.

Usage Warnings

Additional recommendations for using this product relate to ambient temperature and humidity levels. It is advisable to apply it at temperatures between 5°C and 30°C and with relative humidity between 50% and 80%.
Under no circumstances should it be applied in strong winds, direct rain, or when there is a risk of frost within the following 48 hours.
