CLAY MARMORINO

Immerse yourself in the world of sustainable construction and decoration and discover Clay Marmorino. This decorative plaster for interiors features micronized raw clay as its main component, blended with marble powder and natural additives to deliver exceptional results.

What is Clay Marmorino?

Clay Marmorino is a decorative plaster for interiors, made from 100 percent natural, ecological ingredients, and free from toxic substances.

It contains no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and is available in a wide range of colors, with its natural shade being ivory white.

This coating is a medium-fine plaster (600–60 microns) with slight voids and imperfections that resemble marble, but with a smooth texture. For these and other reasons, it is an excellent choice for interior walls in dry areas such as living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, or entryways.

It is a hygroscopic and thermoregulating material, scratch-resistant, transpirable, and easy to clean. It also does not require a final fixer to improve hardness, although Naturclay wax can be applied to achieve a satin finish and provide greater surface protection.

Applications of raw clay Marmorino plaster

This natural wall coating made from raw clay has various uses in the fields of construction and interior design. Its main applications include:

  • Wall and ceiling coatings. On these surfaces, it provides a natural texture and finish, ideal for homes, offices, or commercial spaces.
  • Eco-friendly decoration. This type of product is widely used in bioconstruction, where it plays a role in sustainable projects thanks to its chemical-free composition.
  • Restoration of historic buildings. This mix can be applied to traditional structures or used to restore older sections of buildings.
  • Thermal and acoustic insulation. This type of plaster helps improve energy efficiency and reduces noise transmission.

How to apply raw clay Marmorino for interiors

Designed for interior wall application, clay Marmorino is easy to use, but certain steps must be followed to achieve good results.

First, make sure the substrate is completely dry and clean, removing any loose parts, dust, or mold. If renders are present, they must be properly adhered to the wall surface, free from damage, and dry.

Next, the product must be mixed with water at a ratio of 0.25 liters of water per kilogram of plaster. If a custom color is desired, the pigment should be added at this stage, ensuring accurate dosing.

Before applying the product, ECO Primer must be used as a primer layer on porous surfaces, and ECO PRIMER PUENTE for non-porous surfaces. Once this step is completed and the surface has had sufficient drying time, apply the clay Marmorino in a minimum of two coats, each between 1 and 1.5 mm thick, using a trowel.

Allow at least 24 hours between coats to ensure the material dries completely, although this period may vary depending on working environmental conditions.

Finishes of raw clay Marmorino

Naturclay’s raw clay Marmorino coating allows for different surface finishes, described below:

  • Troweled. Once the material begins to dry, it should be troweled using a flat trowel and a damp sponge. One of the advantages of this material is that it can be reworked by moistening it after drying, which is useful for correcting or removing imperfections.
  • Polished or stucco. While the first layer is still slightly damp, a second layer should be applied to facilitate smoothing. Once the material is completely dry, the next step is burnishing, which should be done with a stainless steel trowel using the Venetian stucco technique. Optionally, a final layer of NATURCLAY WAX or ECO-WATER REPELLENT can be applied.
Usage Warnings

Additional recommendations for using this product relate to ambient temperature and humidity levels. It is advisable to apply it at temperatures between 5°C and 30°C and with relative humidity between 50% and 80%.
Under no circumstances should it be applied in strong winds, direct rain, or when there is a risk of frost within the following 48 hours.
